Your Windows system probably does recognize it, but does not display it under Windows Explorer. To verify that Windows see's your hard drive, click on your Start button, then right click on My Computer and select Properties. From there select the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button. It should show up under the Disk Drivers section. If there then close out of everything and click on the Start button once again and right click on My Computer once more, but this time select Manage from the right click menu. Under the Storage section select Disk Management, your new hard drive should be displayed in the right hand window pane. Right click on your drive and select Format (NTFS is the best option to choose here), it may take a while depending on the size of the drive, but when completed, you will see the drive listed in Windows Explorer now.
