My family lives in rural Colorado and we are looking for a great vacation. We don't have a ton of money, but we do save for yearly vacations. Does anyone have any ideas for a great vacation. I have four children, ages 19, 15, 4, and 8 months. My husband and I are in our 40's and we are up for almost anything. We are looking for something that the whole family would love. Thanks.

We took a vacation to the Smokey Mountains and it turned out to be the best vacation my family ever had. It's not only beautiful there, there is plenty to do. Stay in Gaitlinburg or Pigeon Forge. You won't regret the trip at all! Here's a web site:

Have you been to North Carolina?

Beautiful, old mountains in the west, (the previous poster mentioned Great Smokey Mtn. National Park, it is indeed a spectacular location) In the east, nice sandy beaches and lighthouses. Or go to Myrtle Beach, SC for more stuff to do. Also Charleston SC is a gracious port town with history.

You can rent a beach house for a week and enjoy the surf and sun, very relaxing. We go to Oak Island, NC, or Edisto Island, SC almost every year. Eat fresh fish and shrimp and walk along the beach to collect shells. Also, NC barbecue is not to be missed, either western style or eastern!

The biggest expense would be plane tickets for the 6 of you. It would be a long drive from Colorado! I hope you have a nice vacation!

Cheap and good weather- There is a tiny little Island called San Andres. It is off the coast of Costa Rica but it is part of Columbia. There is a hotel called Maryland. Small cosy clean and it's all Inclusive right on the beach. Great deal and good get away for winter. I would recommend this place. Look into it. San Andres, Columbia.

Good Luck

Here's something you will probably be glad you did and never forget: sign up to go help with Katrina reconstruction. Many church groups, probably habitat for humanity and other charities all offer ways to do this, and you will pay for very little (maybe nothing, maybe just meals). You will work on all aspects of rebuilding. You will learn a lot, and you will help people more than you could ever imaging. I think it's about the most rewarding vacation you could ever take!
