I just purchased some Turtle Wax Polishing Compound and Scratch remover for my car. I have some haze spots around some sections of my car, some light scratches and swirls.

Do I NEED an electric buffer? Or can I just use some elbow grease and do it by hand?

How long would it take to do my entire 4 door camry sedan by hand?

DO NOT use a electric buffer with polishing compound. YOU WILL BURN THE PAINT OFF Only use your elbow grease. I hope u have enough elbow grease do do your whole car, It will take a while, a good while, I would set aside a whole day to do it.

It would be the normal route to take if you were to use an electric buffer but keep in mind that if you are inexperienced at that sort of thing it is very easy to burn swirl marks in the paint job if you dont know what you are doing. Maybe you should leave something like that to a detail shop. Other than that i hope you got some serious elbow grease cause your in for a long day and some sore arms.

If you are not using it professionally, isn't it a purchase rather than an investment.... Pep Boys or Wal Mart sell $30-$40 orbital polishers that work great for the home auto enthusiast. I like to use mine with TR# Resin hand glaze. It is a good polish/cleaning wax that dries before you remove it

you can try by hand but usually not very sucessful, get a good orbital buffer to use with your polishing compound.
