The February 2007 issue of Parents magazine has a great article on all the different types of coughs kids get and what you can do for them. The advice is more for older children. It sounds like you are probably doing all you can. They do have a vapor bath you could try. Just put some of the vapor soap in the bath with the baby. The article says to encourage rest and plenty of fluids but you are already doing those things. Always contact the doctor immediately if your baby seems to be having difficulty breathing or drinking.

I have a boy that is 10 yrs. old now but he was born a premature at 2 month weighting 1 lbs. When we brought him home he had and still do sometimes, what your child have. This is what I did, because since a child I have this problem sometimes. Still give the Tylenol as needed, every 6 to 8 hours take the child and yourself in a hot shower ( bathroom is streamed up) rub Vicki under the nose(just a little) and on the side of the shower's wall. Let the stream fill the bathroom. Make sure you put a towel under the door so the heat and stream will not escape so fast out the room. Stay in there for 15 or 20 minutes at a time. This will help the breathing and congestion. God bless you.

You can also try sitting in the bathroom while you run a hot shower so he can breath in the steam. Try letting him sleep proped up like maybe putting some small pillows under his upper body. You may also want to let him sleep in his car/infant seat as muxh as possible like during naps. If he has nose congestion you will need to use one of those bulb things to suck all that stuff out. That was a hard one w/ my son I made my hubby do it.I've always heard that severe bronchitis takes along time to get over. Definately keep him indoors as much as you can. My son had pnuemonia and we didn't go out for almost two months. I don't think tylenol will do much for a cough but I'm not so sure about giving a 2 months old otc cough medicine. I'm wondering if the doctor can have the pharmacists mix up something that would be suitable for an infant.Maybe you can ask. Just hang in there and if you have to keep taking him back to the doctor. Use your instincts as sometimes I've found that doctors don't listen.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!

The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!

If you have access to a steam room this will work wonders,if not get in your bathroom, close the door and run all the hot taps and build up the steam in there. Ask your doctor if he can supply you with sabutimol it's a mild steroid linctus which will help open up the airways and make his breathing easier 2.5 mls is the maximum dose for such a small child. Our little boy is fairly prone to this type of thing so I know what you are feeling, hope he is better soon.

Try using a vaporizer in his room rather than a cool mist humidifer. The steam is better for breaking up chest conjestion.

Try and have him sit up as much as possible or hold him up. Putting him in the swing is the best. When my son had bad congestion, the doctor recommended this as lying down tends to make the congestion worse, and sitting up can help it drain better. so we'd let our son sleep for hours in his papasan swing.

sing him to sleep and when u give him somthing to drink don't give him cold fluids give him somthing like warm water and milk. When u feed him feed him food that are not high in sodium (it helps w/ the brochitis) give him food high in protein and calcium (it helps speeds healing) that should help him feel better also ask ur doctor so u can give him some medicine. and when he coughs pat his back (helps beak up mucus)
