i think you basically want to know if your ankle may be broken even though you can walk on it...if it is i can help.

short answer. yes. i broke my ankle a few years ago because i tore a ligament and the ligament tore off a piece of bone. i could actually walk with very little pain. trying to do anything else hurt, but walking was fine.

there are parts of your foot and ankle that can be fractured without you realizing it. again, i played soccer on a broken foot for two days without knowing it.

however, it is, like everyone said, a very, very bad idea. go to the dr, get a some xrays and a diagnosis, and just do what they tell you.

Unless it is properly bandaged or has been set & plastered, it is very very painful.
If you haven't had medical attention & suspect you have a broken ankle you should see a doctor urgently. Depending on the break you could do more damage by not having it properly treated. Maybe even end up having to have an operation to correct a mis-shapen ankle.
Once it is properly dressed it will feel much more comfortable, but you should still keep off it & rest with it elevated as much as possible..

Many fractures will support some weight, but you are taking a big risk. It should be elevated and iced initially, then heated for 20 minute intervals. I'd assumed in the past it wasn't a fracture b/c I could still limp on it and years later there was evidence in an xray that it had been fractured! It's best to go get medical attention to be sure.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

It is possible to walk on a broken ankle but it is very unsafe because you could be doing permanent damage to the tendons and ligiments in your ankle.

It's possible, but you might want to buy some crutches first. Especially if you need to get around.

If not, stay home, keep it elevated and ice it. Or it won't heal all that quick and you'll be layed up for quite awhile.

It is possible but not advisable. You could break it worse or even break a diffrent spot. It's best to use crutches and stay off it.
