Is anyone in FFA?

Question

If so, what kind of animal do you own? My livestock show is coming up. Got any tips?

BTW.....FFA stands for Future Farmers of America. It is a club where you raise an animal and show it at the end of the year.

I have a goat. Her name is Pita. I just now bathed her and sheered her.

I am a former FFA member. Also, on the comment about what FFA does...FFA compromises a lot more than just showing an animal at livestock shows.

For livestock show information and tips, try checking with the 4-H Club agent at your local extension office...4-H Club tends to have numerous videos, books, and pamplets on livestock shows...if nothing else, the 4-H Club agent can give you tips himself/herself and/or point you to other 4-H Club members who can give you some advice.

One tip is for YOU to work with the animal as much as you can. That is the purpose of a livestock show, to teach the young people how to work with the animals, nutrition, health, grooming, etc. Often times I see parents working the animals the entire weekend of a show (and I'm pretty sure they handle it at home too), then pass the animal over the the young person at the show ring. It shows when they get in the ring and struggle to handle the animal. Keep your eyes on the judge as much as possible and SMILE. Have fun and good luck!!

I am in the FFA im into the Dairy Products CDE. lol its fun (Btw they changed the name from future farmers of america to the National FFA organization because it is not just for farmers( im a punk/ goth and not even remotely "farmer"))

I'm taking my yearling horse, danny, as a training and showing CDE and for the fair.....take something sweet like a fainting goat!
