Sometimes there are opportunities in life that only pass by once.
I say... swim.
You will have friends all through your life. You will also find out who your real friends are in the process AND you will make new friends. If you can't maintain good grades then this may be a problem. Now, you were selected for a reason and that reason is that you have earned it. You have worked hard to perform well. Keep up the good work as new opportunities in your life may come your way because of your swimming. Also, take this opportunity to really become a great role model for other kids and those younger ones as well - there is resposibility in this too. Consider how you feel a role model should be.
If you pass this opportinity by, I feel you will always wonder what would have happened. Keep excelling in all you do and make a good life for yourself. Congratulations and believe in yourself. Start eating your Wheaties and have a blast in the process!

it depends ask your self is swimming means that much to u if u really like it then go for it your friends said they would support u through it and u would be doing something u love and representing your country on the other hand if u r having doubts then mabye it would be better to countinue swimmin but not doing soemthign at such a high level and so u would have more time for friends dotn feel pressured to do it because u dont want to seem unappresative (however u spell that) if thats the only reason u think u should do it dont.....im 13 to if i was picked to do something liek this depending on how much time it would take up each day i might not want to i mean im only 13 and i just would like to be with my friends and stay at my school...but the depends on how much u care about swimming i mean u can always keep doing it even if u decide not to do this

Swim, your friends will be there to cheer you on. This is your chance to go for the gold. Chances like this don't come very often like this. Your young, and now is your time! The training will help you in positive ways, more than just gaining physical strength, you will be doing something you can be proud of.
You are not really choosing this over your friends, it just seems like it, because of habit. This is something new and exciting.
Good Luck!!

do it. I am 13 and i am on the swim team and if they offered me to do that i would deffinately say yes. You have your whole life to spend with your friends adn this is a once in a life time opportunity (maybe, i don't know :-)). Plus you could even get a scholorship for a good college if you do this. I hope you make a great choice and good luck if you do swim country!
