The pupae stage is different for various species. Once the chrysalides have formed between one and 20 weeks may be required for the adult butterfly to emerge.

Many species form the chrysalides in the fall to emerge in the spring. Small species are often pupae for only a few days (see the third site below):

I think it's around 3 weeks, it also depends on the species.
