It doesn't show up because the battery is dead. If you read the instructions on Apple's web site it states that you need to leave it plugged in for up to an hour before the iPod will boot up and show the normal charging screen.

if the ipod just needs to recharge get a A/C charger that works with a regular wall jack. The ipod not showing up is a different story. Try restarting your computer, plug the ipod up while the computer is off, then restart. This normally works for me. I hope this helps.

Ipod batteries often get deffected. SO you might want to look into getting a new battery. Hope that Helps.

leave it plugged in and then restart ur computer c wat happens...i would guarantee u get the wall charger it charges way faster.
