my preferences right now are for andrei makine, vladimir nabokov...something in line with this would be just great....

you can look for new authors/books based on what you like-- at the bottom of the page is an author search box. When I put in Nabokov, it returned:

If you like Nabokov you must read Red Bird Just Like This. It's an autobiographical novel by Earl Jesse Stevens. It will touch your heartstrings, make you cry, make you laugh, and when you're finished you'll feel inspired to do more independent thinking.
