Every time you see an image or have a thought, those things are recorded into your short term and long term memory. It's been proven that "deja vu" is when your mind conceptualizes or sees something, files it into your memory and then recalls it from memory so fast that it seems familiar, like it's happened to us before.

Its when your doing something, going somewhere or in a situation where you get like a flashback that you have done what you are doing before,or been to the place you are going before. In some cases you could be having a conversation with somebody and feel like you have already had that conversation before.I get it alot,it seems so real and in some cases i havent even been to the place before.Thats my explanation or what i beleive it to be,though i expect other people think differently

It is your mind in dreamstate while wide awake; when your subconscious mind projects images into the visual cortex of your conscious mind.
The visual images seen are created by your mind in dreamstate, where the brain recreates a hyper-reality from memory that feels like a conscious experience - where the dream feels both real AND familiar.

Literally Translated in French it means "Already You"
Basically you have already been there. Some scientists believe that it comes about by delayed synapses firing in your brain. Your brain receives bits of information in the cognitive cortex that interprets your senses, but if some of those are delayed or misfired then it seems as if you already knew what was coming.

An unexplainable feeling of knowing a place you don't seem to remember being in. A word is but a word and a place is forever.

I think it means literally "already seen." It's the sensation of having done or seen something before you experience it.
