i dont get why team rocket always wants to get pikachu so bad. there are other far more stronger and rarer pokemon than ash's pikachu, so why do they always want to catch pikachu??

I agree with you that there are much stronger pokemon out there but in the first few episodes, Ash's pikachu showed extreme power and they wanted to bring it to their boss.

-Because their stupidity carries on the 'plot' and humor
-They are many pikachus, just so happens that this one is 'special'. It's best to have many type of different pokemon of different sizes and everything, providing they have the best traits of their kind.
-It's personal, and either way they still get to take a look at other pokemons to steal at the same time as long as they are traveling.

It's usually because when Team rocket see Pikachu fight...pikachu usually Wins..so they want it to their boss's colection..so he can defeat other ppl..and be the ultimate pokemon trainer...
