I hit one with a motorcycle once. It's bad, really bad and it's hard to get rid of.
It smells like the worst fart ever mixed with burnt rubber multiplied 1000 times. A smell you will never forget that can travel an amazing distance without losing its potency.

Have you ever smelled a skunk, I mean real strong? It makes some people sick.

Oh, it smells foul, you have to wash your clothes and sit in a tub for a long time to try to get that horrible smell off your skin. Tomatoe juice is supposed to help, but then when they attack your car that is even worse, think about it....hot skunk funk, ew!!

It's very bad. My dog got it and up close it smells like burning rubber and it stayed on her for for at least 2 months. I also had to throw the pants away that I was wearing when I was walking her that particular night. Stay Away!

it can be dangerous at close range - I know a guy who caught a blast in the face and it rendered him unconscious in the hospital for a couple of days.

Yes it is, especially if you get it in your eyes. That's what they aim for. A good bath in tomato juice will help a lot.
