SHould I get A xbox or playstation 2? or save up for something else?

x-box it has the games that i love : halos,fable but xbox 360 is taking over. playstation: Alot more games few i see that are cool but i havnt seen much. save up for xbox 360 or something else?

If the XBox has the games that you love and the Playstation 2 only has a few of them, then go with the XBox. I'm assuming that there aren't any newer games you want to play anytime soon.

There is not a 100% guarantee that the original XBox games would run on the XBox360, however. And the same is true for the Playstation 3's compatibility with Playstation 2.

You can also check this list: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm to see if the XBox games you love would run on the XBox360. This would help you decide whether to save up for the XBox360 or not.

Regarding the Playstation 3's backward compatibility, Sony asks that developers adhere to their system's Technical Requirements Checklist (TRC). They claim that all Playstation and Playstation 2 games that follow the TRC should work with the Playstation 3. However, not all game developers follow the rule. Unlike Microsoft, Sony doesn't give out a list or make it easy for users to find such a list. Instead, they have you type in a name and search for the game in their catalog to see the compatibility status (http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus) with the description for most being "No major problems for this title". They aren't claiming that there aren't any problems; just no major ones.

I wouldn't invest any real money into an older platform right now as you'll be far behind for new titles to come. Get an Xbox360 or a PS3 and enjoy the fact that they play the previous system's games. Wii does it too with Gamecube games.
