I work part-time at JD Sports and have been for the previous 2 years. I have had a new manager for 6months who i feel within the previous 2 years does not justly treat his staff. I would like to know ways in which i can know what my rights are as an employee. I understand that my handbook can provide this and i have been provided with websites but i wanted to know which source is the best.
I intend to ring up my head office to personally find out as i and alot of other staff feel wrongly treated.
For example, he has banned all staff from using our staffroom so that we have nowhere to place our personal belongings and he intends to place a cctv camera which im aware should not be allowed.
Any information i would be grateful for. Thanks

I do believe that there are certain rights your employee does dictate, but i don't agree with the treatment of carrying these rights out especially when previous management have not carried such an attitude, and management in other branches today don't carry such attitude either.
I don't believe in quitting a job bcos of a manager, there is a certain level of treatment that employees should recieve otherwise unfair treatment wouldn;t be consided a issue then. So please any relevant answers concerning employment please, as i don't need to hear that my rights aren't important or irrelevant. cheers.

Im not too sure about unions at JDs,
I am not part of a union either
I dont intend to take this matter legally, i only intend to sort out this issue with the manager above him as he poses a lot of threats regarding giving disciplinaries etc.

You'r rights are now exactly the same as a full time employee.
This i know, as i just ran my own firm for 9 years.
Is the staffroom, another name for canteen?? If so , he can put a camera in there. Anywhere where people change he CANNOT, nor can he in the toilets.
Good Luck
If ur a member of a union, ask them, but watch u dont tread on toes 2 heavily, as he may find a legal excuse not 2 renew your contract

Closed circuit TVs are allowed for security reasons. If you have complaints about unfair treatment, harassment or other issues you can talk to the EEOC and file a complaint confidentially. There should be a number for you to call in your employee handbook.

He can install a CCTV but not in a toilet.
You need to ask why you cannot use the staffroom; I assume you do not all want to go in there at the same time; I would also ask him to provide lockers for your bags etc.

You employer, except you have a settlement, employs you at will. in the event that they have given you an entire-time place and you widespread it, they are no longer required by applying regulation to house your desire to circulate on help so some distance as i understand. they could change you with somebody interior of your organization who needs the full-time and that should artwork out with all yet be arranged for a drop in wages as their way of compensating for the educational they are going to ought to realize this as to deliver the newly promoted as much as hurry. No, you won't be able to be fired considering which you're pregnant yet, in case you won't be able to fulfill the demands of your job/schedule then your employer could locate somebody who can. it quite is important to locate yet another job quite of attempting to stress this difficulty along with your present day employer. As on your desire to circulate on Medicaid... I observed a bumper sticker as quickly as that suggested in case you won't be able to feed them please do no longer breed them. it quite is the duty of the daddy to make up the version in expenditures, no longer the government. that could sound harsh and if so i will in basic terms say that it style of feels like we've too a lot of human beings attempting to the government to offset the fees of having toddlers that we won't be able to arise with the money for. As an factor observe, people who're the victims of rape or a compelled being pregnant should not be grouped in with people who weren't.

You are using the word "rights". Rights are things provided for under law and protected by same. You have no particular "rights" in your employment, other than your right to quit your job if you don't like the rules your employer dictates.
