If you remember right, Drew Barrymore's character talks to Kelly Garrett (Jaclyn Smith) in a bar in Mexico. So they are all a new version of Charlies Angels.

I don't think that there could be any comparison drawn between th tv characters and the movie characters. The two are so completely unrelated!

If you watch the sequel you here the girls talk about the television cast as if they are legends to be admired. Jackson's character is retired.
