one kid was "abducted" for 4 years and didn't say a thing and easily could've escaped. Now I'm just a normal kid as well. And after seeing his pic now, I could easily see him as just a pissed off kid not wanting to return to his family.
and the other "abducted" kid...Im literally not making this up...the official story is that the one single major thing the other kid returning back to his family did.... he immediately ran up to his room to turn on the computer to play some video games
This whole thing reeks. It should be very interesting what develops.
Are people that stupid that they think this was an out and out kidnapping?

people knew he was missing, heck there was a foundation setup for him by his parents...
I'm telling you, as a kid. It a feel good story to think the big nasty evil man was captured and the innocent law abiding child with the cute lisp i saved and returned to his family, but far more often it is not so. Neither kid even said a single thing for a reason during any conference.
The cute little 11 year old emerged with I think a lip ring or something awesome like that once he was found and like 3 more piercings.
This is going to be like the Smart case without the religious overtones. And then the reports will come out in the media about some insigniicant time where one of the parents did something morally wrong to one of the children. Then the muckraking through the parents personal lives and rumors that one of the parents are... uhmm addicted to painkillers. Its the same crap everytime

I would wait for more details before jumping to conclusions. This case isn't unusual, Elizabeth Smart was missing practically under her parents nose for maybe a year. She had chances to escape, but didn't (you will have to read the whole story). Also, she definitely was not abused or upset with her parents. There are numerous stories like this, many cannot escape for fear. There also was a little girl that was abducted a year or two ago that was found by a complete stranger in a convenience store. She was all alone but said nothing about needing help.

Maybe he was having fun! being able to do alot of things! my mother wont let me do anythin and i think Shawn is a lucky kid in a way because from the looks of things Devlin let him do what ever he wanted!! It was a kidnapping because he was taken and not returned for 4 years!! There are alot of ways he could have escaped but maybe if he did there were consequences! Just let him do what he wants and leave him alone!! This is a story which should only be kept within the family!! If Shawn wants the story out he would tell it himself but he hasnt has he! Everyone should back off and leave him alone!! I dont mean to be rude but i think Shawn will tell everyone when he is ready!!

They guy took him once - why wouldn't he believe that if he escaped the same guy couldn't find him again? What would be the consequence of that action when you know first hand the man who took you is capable of violence and abuse. Shawn did what he had to do to stay alive. People cope with horrible situations in different ways. Sometimes it can take a child six years to cope with the death of a parent. 4 years of unimaginable abuse and fear for your life and maybe even fear for the life of your loved ones... the only thing that "reeks" is the adult capable of doing this.
Adults stay in abusive relationships when they are NOT captive. Fear, sexual physical and mental abuse, manipulation... strong tools against an 11 year old boy. You are seeing the 15 year old on TV and trying to apply logic for a teenager. Think about the 11 year old with over 4 years of torture and abuse.

Not that i'm saying this story is necessarily on the line...but i don't think it's fair to say that he could have "easily escaped", come on now, if it was that easy, he would have. There's also no news yet if that kid was just sitting in that apartment for these four years, who KNOWS where that guy took him, or what he told him? And, um, the "Official Story" on that other kid, let's not forget, is still a media story - is there such thing as official with the media??

How a lot reality? None. they received't all be mendacity; some should be delusional and really imagine they were kidnapped, the same way some human beings believe they could levitate. in case you examine the Yahoo information, you'll hit upon a question I responded, about a 12 months in the past or so. there replaced into this woman who claimed that she had a discomfort in her butt, and that it replaced into some alien that planted an anal probe in her. The, oddly sufficient, she edited a question the subsequent day and stated that it replaced into in simple terms haemorrhoid in spite of everything. So why did alien were given in touch in any respect? replaced into she mendacity at the same time as she stated her butt damage? replaced into she mendacity or delusional at the same time as she claimed it replaced into the right results of alien abduction? If alien got here to earth to assemble archives, they does not want to abduct each person; they could get all the archives from orbit, as a number of our own undercover agent satellite tv for pc are doing. and regardless of in the journey that they necessary to the contact someone, both they could go public and ask for volunteers, or ought to achieve this covertly in a way that the abductees does not even imagine that they could undergo in ideas what got here about to them. I recommend, they are meant to be able to flow mild years, and they are that sloppy with their try topics? C'mon...

The abducter worked two jobs and neighbors saw the oldest boy outdoors when he could have approached the neighbor and said "my name is ... and I have been kidnaped. Please call the police." I read the story too that the youngest one went immediately to his room when he got home and played video games. This seems strange. Maybe kids are not as smart as we think they are. They have been told--probably by the police--not to say anything. I imagine they are investigating. Remember when Patty Hearst was kidnapped by the Simbionese Army and forced to rob a bank as Tanya, she did jail time inspite of the Hearst families millions. Why don't whites teach their children how to act in a crisis. Privilege won't protect you.

tbsolutely! This was an "out and out" kidnapping. Don't think people are "that stupid" to think this was an out and out kidnapping. There are a lot of trained, smart people involved with this case who have seen everything. You and I have not. Just because we don't understand doesn't mean we understand. The only thing incredibly interesting is that we, society, need to always have our nose to the ground with open eyes, and hearing ears, keenly aware if something/someone is not normal. Someone must have wondered why the one boy was not in school. Someone should have checked.

There is a precedent for this very situation, the movie " "I Know My First Name is Stephen" dramatized an earlier real world kidnapping of young males by a sex pervert. And there is no proff that the kid could have easily escaped.
There was a girl held captive in Europe for years until she finally decided to escape while her abductor used the phone.
Its easy for adults to forget how scared and impressionable adolescents can be.
