Our first child after a car?In particular the car our child was concieved in a Camaro!If it a girl he wants to name her Camera!My hubby is a 28 yr old man and still in love with his sports cars!We have 2 sport cars and 1 SUV.Is there any way to talk him out of this the only comprimise for him is to name our child after another type of car!

He sounds very selfish and nuts. You have problems. At least insist on giveing the child a decent, normal middle name.

Talk to him about parents you both know who have made themselves look stupid by giving their children stupid-sounding names. Ask how he would feel now if his parents had named him Studebaker or Volare or Edsel or Toronado. Try to help him see your child going to elementary school, high school, college, and adulthood with a funny-sounding name and all the pressures that will put on them. In the back of the book "Freakonomics" there is a section about how a baby's first name affects his/her chances for success in later life -- get that and suggest he read it with you. Maybe one of these methods will give him a clue he can pick up on. If not, and he persists, the baby will probably acquire a nickname that won't be so bad and no one will ever need to call him Camaro or her Camara. (Your instincts aren't wrong, that would be a mega-stupid name). Good luck!

There are lots of cute car names, try finding one you would be okay with and say that's the only car name you could stand. Or find some other names he would like.
Maybe offer to have the middle name be after a car but have a 'normal' first name.

From what I hear, the birth mother is the only person who has a legal say in what name is placed on the birth certificate, even if other names are suggested by other individuals. Explain to your husband that your kid, especially if its a girl may end hating its name, thus the parents that gave the name, especially if the child is ridiculed by his/her peers because of this.

Come up with a name that he really likes that you also like. Get a baby book, and let him know you don't like the idea of naming your child after the car it was conceived in. The kid will have to tell that story thousands and thousands of times, I feel for it.

The late tennis player Arthur Ashe and his wife, a photographer, named their daughter Camera (pronounced ca-MARE-uh) and I thought it was a very pretty name. Maybe you don't like it because it makes you think of a car? But you should both be happy with the baby's name. Maybe you could use it for a middle name.

You might run into tire friction asking him not to name the child that. Why not meet him on the yellow stripe and have that/those names for a child's middle name. Better than the first.
But I've heard much worse!

Easy, tell him if he does, you'll leave him.
What the hell is he thinking, naming your daughter after the car he had sex with you in to birth her. She'll grow up, learn about this, and become disgusted that her name is based on it. Just tell him how much you hate this awful idea for a child's name.
PS: Name her Lily or Emma. =)

I am not sure how to persuade him to not name your baby after a car but i do no that your kid is going to hate the dad for naming him/her a retarded name and you even more for letting him. But then again my cousin's name is Chevella after the Chevel car and she's okay with her name.
