It's funny I should see this question right as my husband is fixing our squeaking dryer today!

The two main things that make a dryer squeak are:
1. The belt (you would need to replace it)
2. The pulley system (this would also need new replacement parts)

My husband is replacing both right now.

We looked online to find the specific parts for our dryer model and ordered them (took about 5 days to receive the shipment). My husband also looked up online a diagram of how to replace the parts and then he proceeded to take apart the dryer. He began taking the dryer and repairing it about 2 hours ago. It looks like he's got about an hour to go before he's done.

Don't go lubricating everything, that is probably not your problem. The squeaking comes from parts slipping against each other, the lubrication would only make them slip more.

W-D 40 just attracts lint and makes the problem worse. It is probably a pully and it needs to be replaced. It could also be the pads that the drum rests on are worn. Open it up and try to figure where the noise is coming from and go from there.

Sounds like an electric dryer. You can remove the back panel and oil the bearings but I would suggest you look through the manual first to identify their location.

Remove top or front panel ( you may be able to access rear)
Spray silicone lube on the belt driving the drum and rollers.
Probably time for a new belt though.
