How do you survive math?
You don’t, that’s it.
Nobody has, ever!
100 years after your math lessons, at the latest, most people are dead.

You are welcome

You survive by understanding that it's not just about finding the right answer, but in knowing that you're developing problem-solving skills. The numbers are only there to show you actual results to the methods - they give you something concrete to help you understand how and why mathematical methods work.

Oh, and it helps if you don't talk yourself down about math, even if you think you're fitting in with friends by doing so. Many people say silly things about math, such as "Algebra? I can't even balance my checkbook." It's an exaggeration based on an attempt to remain humble, but in most cases, it's false modesty.

In your case, perhaps you need a greater challenge. If you're in junior high, for example, try to find a local half-price/bargain bookstore and purchase a cheap algebra or geometry book. Maybe even trigonometry or calculus - something you haven't taken but you will eventually take in high school. I was always in the same boat as you, so I'd work ahead in my book to try to get future homework assignments done early.

You do it over and over until you learn it, having the satisfaction of knowing you'll probably never have to do domething as useless as, let's say, algebra, in your real life or ever again.

I believe all the math you need to know is tought to you by the 5th grade.
