You are trying to tell yourself something, your subconscious is trying to communicate an upset somewhere in your emotional matrix.
From the description of the dream, it seems like this nagging issue that you need to address is something small, and therefore probably why you haven't acted upon it yet. If it is a problem that builds up, you may notice the dreams getting longer and thereby losing sleep because of it, or you may notice that you are bitten by bigger or more threatening animals, which will also result in loss of good rest and will probably result in stress and frustration.
Also, the fact that noone notices you or helps you in the dream might mean that it is in fact something that only you might find important, or be able to understand. I have found from experience, that if people cannot relate to a situation, they are usually useless to help.
I suggest some serious introspection. While alone at home, play some relaxing music, drink a herbal tea (chamomile is good for relaxing), maybe run a bubble bath, and start talking to yourself.
Ask yourself if there might be anything that could be bothering you and how your emotional life has progressed or degressed in the past 12 months. Try thinking about experiences that may have caused a difference in your emotional personality. Have you peacefully and amicably "closed" hurts and upsets with people around you, you may have left a situation without giving it proper closure. It helps to be alone, and even write things down.
Be quiet.
Pay attention.

Information you get from a dream is from symbols. If you sit down and write out EVERYTHING you remember in the dream, take out the words you think are most important and make a list of them. Without thinking of the dream, look at the words in the list and write down beside them what you associate with that word. For example, maybe you use "kitten" as a nickname for someone or the specific kitten in the dream reminds you of a family pet. When you have come up with a personal meaning for each word, re-read the dream but change the important words to the meanings you have given them. You'll be able to figure it out better than anyone else because we don't know how you feel about the things mentioned in the dream. I'm SURE it means something but you need to translate the dream and compare it with events that have taken place in your life in the last year. Good luck!

Getting bit in a dream usually resembles feeling attacked by ones anxieties or one's urges. According to Freud, dreaming about small animals always symbolizes children and siblings. So if you have kids or sibs, do you have any concerns or overbearing issues that you have not been able to resolve for the past year? Or is there something that your concerned about with them that your just hoping will fix itself? Your dream is telling you to try to do something about it instead of just letting it slide.....then your dream will stop.

dreams are really symbolic, there might be something bothering you in life. Something could be holding on to you that you want to go away Or maby you are just afraid of cats. The real answer is for you to figure out which will be the most reliable.

it could mean that someone you think is your friend or work colleague/relative (represented by harmless animal) is actually not as nice as you thought and could be out to get you and in your subconcious mind you know this but are refusing to believe it so your mind tries to tell you to be on your guard by these dreams. OR maybe you are feeling trapped in a relationship/family home/job which is also represented by the harmless animal attacking you.
or maybe it means nothing!

otherwise it could be that there is something in your life that you want to get rid of that is irritating you.
Now ; go and stand in front of a mirror and repeat these words

being attacked by an animal depicts what you feel in relationship with other people. The attack, the criticism and emotions directed at you by others are frequently shown as an animal attacking or biting you, as is your own internalized anger or fear
