No. I am not a surfer or a diver, and all things considered, it's not very likely even if you are.
My theory is that many shark bites are cases of the shark trying to "size up" a stranger. Sharks are obviously not hunting and eating humans, as if they were, surfing would be suicide.
Sharks have no hands of course, and their most sensitive areas are their snout and mouth. Sharks have often been observed taking "nibbles" on foreign objects, as if trying to "feel" them. Just like a toddler that likes to chew and suck on his toys.
Other attacks may be self defensive, as a swimmer may accidentally come upon a shark, and oblivious to the shark's body language, invade it's personal space so the shark feels it is being harassed.

No, most sharks are not man eating monsters...I grabbed a shark once by the dorsal fin while I was snorkeling in Catalina and he took me around and showed me the area, until he bolted like lightning into deep water...stay away from great whites, tigers, bulls, and mako's they may make a meal out of you but the others won't give you a second thought unless you are bleeding or they sense you are in despair.

Sadly yes.
This great White bit off my entire body and luckily as you can see I survived. I have learnt to type on the keyboard with the help of a pencil in my mouth.
I have no regrets c'ept for one...
Each Xmas all I seem to get under the tree are Hats and pencils

no yet i exchange into swimming beside somebody in fl and that they've been given their foot little bit of while i exchange into approximately 5 feet from them. the shark brushed up against me and that i began swimming like hell

Yes only once, i was ou surfing at tsunamy bay and got just a scratch it just bit and let go i had alot of bleeding but as yu can see i didnt die. Oh and it hurst like a bitc]-[
