Playing sports require sdiscipline and leadership. It also requires you to learn how to play as a team or against yourself. In Basketball, football, baseball, you are art of unit that does not work unless all parts are willing to move in the same direction. You have to care about winning for you and your teammmates, and by doing your best your develop great citizenship and leave your ego at the door. In Golf, Tennis, Boxing,etc you are playing against yourself, and you have to do it for you first. You have get all of the negative noise out of your head to compete successfully, and you have to give your best effort everytime. You are under scrutiny everyday as a lone player and you can't blame a teammmate for your failures, you have to learn to take responsiblity very quickly. In tennis around 12, and golf around 16 and boxing much older. All in all, sports participation fosters nutrition, wellness and postive thinking. Athletes become elite athletes through sheer determination, and by making that best effort.

Sports involves teamwork. On a team, you have to do your part, (citizenship), look out for each other (caring), and do your best (effort).
