It depends on who is fighting. If it is the war in Iraq, you only need to look at web sites listing the fallen. Check here:

I'd say, look at government sites. Like, in the Vietnam war (effort, presence, whatever they called it since it wasn't a "war"), blacks had the highest percentage of soldiers and I think the highest percentage of deaths.

If they have census results, I'm sure they have armed forces census results.

Check the different branches of the military, also maybe the ACLU or civil rights groups.

That's a difficult question, it's not like every terrorist and militant registers with the Iraqi government. you might just have to use common sense and location to figure it out
