Is child support taken out of the gross before taxes or after the taxes? Mostly of the people say before is this true? This is NY.

child support is taken before taxes just like health insurance you don't pay tax on money you do not receive and at the end of the year the person receiving the support gets something like a w2

it is calculated on amount before taxes...for both parents. it is taken out along with taxes (your employer knows).

here is the CS calculator. also some links for you to look up your states laws about child support, visitation, etc.

it's taken out of the gross.Also the person getting the money doesn't get a w2 where i am from (california).

I believe it is taken out before...you can ask your HR person at work_
