caulk around bathtub have ugly black marks how to get rid of them

You need to remove the old mildewed caulking first.Use a utility knife and metal scraper. Be careful not to scratch the surface if it is not ceramic tile. When the old material is removed and the seam is cleaned out good, apply a siliconed latex caulk in an even steady bead around the tub. Then you can wet your finger and go over it lightly to smooth it out in one continious movement. The entire task should take around an hour.

I just did this the other day. I bought a tool at Wal-Mart called CAULK-AWAY made by a company called Homax and a tube of kitchen and bath caulk by DAP called Easy Solutions (no caulk gun required). It was extremely easy, even for a girl.

Good answers so far but.....caulk comes in a tube now with no need for a gun .As for the old caulk there is a tool made specifically for removing it without causing any damage.It is in fact called a caulk remover.The tube comes with a nozzle guide so you dont have to use your finger(s).

it's easy. the hard part is to remove the old. use a utility knife. get a good caulking gun and try to apply the caulk at a constant feed rate and motion.

Just use all purpose cleaner and Scotch brite to clean it!!
