ALSO why did dimples firstly come onto humans.

normally humans mutate to make the body more effiecient

but dimples don't help us to do anything.

red hair doesn't help you do anything, neither does blue eyes. mutations are the result of a mistake made in DNA coding, they don't happen on purpose in order to make humans more efficient. sometimes they can be useful and then they will often persist but they don't have to be. if you have dimples and your parents don't that means that they carry the allele but don't display it.

If your mum and dad didn't have them, how the heck can you inherit them?
And dimples do serve a purpose! They are ever so cute!
And they didn't 'come onto humans'! You make it sound like they crawl out of bushes and pounce onto someones cheek or chin!
Do I sound like I'm telling you off? Sorry. I don't mean it that way. You sound like you are really cute. Like a dimple, in fact!

Not all genes are to optimize something. They may have just been a side effect- I would say that humans are not really evolving for fitness of the species anymore. People with birth defects, mental problems, bad vision, etc still have kids and pass on the inferior genetics. I have contacts- if I needed to use my eyes for survival w/o contacts, I would probably die right away.

Inheritance doesn't have to be just parent to child. I have blue eyes, and my whole family (including aunts, uncles, and grandparents) have brown eyes. One of my great grandmas have blue eyes on one side, and a great great grandpa on the otherside. I researched into it when I was younger because I swore I was adopted since I was the only one with blue eyes :)

You are showing a lack of nous saying dimples do nothing. They can make a plain girl look cute. If no one else in the family has dimples, look closely at the milkman/postman/etc.
My cousin who died in December in her late sixties has always been known as "Dolly Dimples" or "Dimps" She looked good with the big one on her chin................... I suppose if you lie in bed eating chips you could hold your salt in them, I use my belly button but sometimes bring out fluff.......................

if the genes for dimples are recesive and both of ur parents have it u have 25% chances of having them. even if the are not present in ur parents.
