yes this is true about a few things
i will start with the human brain, the less we use it the less we have, so yes we lose it,
and like your body the less we use it, the less muscles we have ( but we gain fat so we gain not lose) but we lose muscle, so we lose it, and just like well now you know where I going, and they say hey look it is still there, how could i lose it, but ask anyone who has not used it for a year or so, and then see if his ability is gone or not, so yes even there we lose it

OH well so get out there and use it, so you do not lose it..

Depends on what the subject is. I studied Mathematics and can honestly say that I don't use all that information, so it gets lost somewhere.

the surveys say you only remember 10% of what you learned in school...cause you dont use most of the history, biology, zoology, etc...math and english are most remembered cause it's used more in everyday life.......good luck
