a few pointers to think about:
1) there's vast land on the west side of the great salt lake that's owned by the military & is closed to the public.
2) some of the jets that are now in use, where origionally tested at Hill AF, in northern utah.
3) Utah's not commonly thought of a place to hide military secrets, i.e., testing of "flying saucers" & such not can go on in private while everyone's looking in the nevada or new mexico desert

Knowing the government, and not trusting the government, it would not surprise me if there was yet another secret facility in Utah. Area 51 however, extends to the northwest of Las Vegas, away from the Utah border. However, some areas are very close to the border.
Area 51 is also known as Mercury, Nevada. There are 737s that shuttle workers from Las Vegas to Mercury on a daily basis. Some go up in a bus. they stay for a few days and are then rotated back to town.

There is a RUMOR that area 51 was mostly abandoned because the nuclear testing left behind dangerous nuclear waste.
Evidence shows that new bases, possibly with for the same reason, are located in Utah and Colorado.
