The "Doomsday Clock" is a metaphorical clock that if it were ever showing 12:00, the Earth was at risk of annihilation, i.e., Nuclear War.
I have no idea what the "time" is on the clock, as there has not been much mention of it since the Soviet Union was dissolved

It's much more dramatic to see the hands of the clock nearing 12:00 then just digital numbers. imo
The Doomsday Clock,is currently it seven minutes to Midnight.

It is much to big and mechanical and would cost to much to rebuild

it is symbolic, and that kind of clock don't run on batteries.
