I can not believe what has happen! I read horrific tale of a baby that has been burtalized... I am heart broken that anyone could get away with an act such as this.... I type in my support and find out their is a request for money. Now I am thinking how can someone take tragety such as this and ask for money. That makes me distrustful of the whole situation. Maybe Yahoo should investigate a story such as this to verify it rather than delete questions that they feel are not appropriate! Am I wrong for not trusting it?

Why are you asking this in mythology & folklore ?

but the answer is give no free cash unless to a well known charity. if you dontate to a private cause attach a string to it.

this is an example of What an Attached string is.

If someone says they need money to buy something
ask how much Exactly are they trying to raise and who are they purchasing the item from.
You can then write a check to the seller of the item
with an letter of explaination of what the check is for.
and let them know that you will be checking to be sure that
the seller either credits the amount toward what is owed or refunds the money to you.

so if they are raising money for a funeral
you find out which funeral home they are dealing with
and that funeral home is whom you make your check out to.

(to be on the really safe side, put a memo on the check and xerox the check ,& letter of explaination together before giving it so they can't say later they thought they could spend it anyway they liked)

Tragedies happen. People are greedy. Some people put a tragedy with their greed and try to profit from it.

Sometimes, it's not even a real tragedy, just an urban legend. The whole, "we're raising money for starving__________" or "we're helping victims of _____________"--take it with a grain of salt.

It's too bad that people want to profit from the good intentions of others. But remember that saying, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"? You have to protect yourself from those who would take advantage of you.

It's a scam, an urban legend, something that seems legitimate, but really isn't. Folklore works because they use things that have been proven to work in every culture in the world for all history.

Get involved in legitimate causes. Trash all scams that seem just a little...off. Use your intuition on these things.

Feel sad but don't send any money. It is probably a scam.
