Rutgers is a great univeristy especially if you live in New Jersey. Rutgers has a wide variety of majors and three different locations. The average SAT score for main campus (piscataway) is around SAT Reasoning Verbal: 530 - 630
SAT Reasoning Math: 560 - 670. This is only the average so there are people who have more and less than this. Also the other campus's have slightly lower adminssion requirements. There is also an essay that is optional, but recommended. Good luck

I'm european, there are very few schools that the general public in europe know by name, same as you probably don't know the names of schools in europe. However, Rutgers is one of those is known which means it has a good reputation outwith the US.

It is a very good state university. I suspect that it is more selective if you are not a resident of New Jersey.
