actually, it's been almost 2 months since it's come out

....so that would mean it didn't "just" come out. I would appreciate it if nintendo was at least sending small shipments weekly, but they haven't been doing that. Instead, their shipments are so inconsistent that not even stores know when a new shipment arrives.

This is the basic principles of supply and demand, the supply can only come at a certian rate, Nintendo probably can't produce them any faster and only has a certian supply of raw materials to use to produce them, so Nintendo has to stay within those constraints. It will take time for the supply to meet the demand and will still fluctuate over time, just like the Nintendo DS is now hard to keep in stock too, this will change with time.

With any new game system launch, there is always a shortage. Why do you think people line up at Walmart and wait 14 hours for a new Nintendo? It's because they know if they don't...they won't be able to get one for weeks. The demand is just so great for them now, that as soon as any stores get them, within a few moments they are all sold out.

Once the initial "new" period has worn off, and the demands trails off, they will be more available in stores.

Obviously it just came out, and they didn't want Sony to beat them out too far on the Release date. They sold a lot, and have to restock which takes a while. Xbox probably had a hard time trying to get a decent supply to fulfill the fans. They can only make so much in a while, without people constantly buying and selling them out.

Companies that produce products such as Wii and Playstation and XBox purposely make fewer of the products than demand warrants so that they create publicity and even higher demand for their product.

Last month the folks camping out overnight in front of BestBuy was all over the news. Free publicity, and people become crazed over their product.

Its just that their supply is less then the HUGE demand. I think nintendo is doing a good job at making them though. They have already sold more then 4million in less then 2 months.

Your best chance is to order from a non-major dealer. My Dad ordered me one from somebody besides a gamestore, nintendo, or ebay, and i just got it. Don't worry though, I heard that it's harder to get DS's right now than it is to get Wiis. You should probably try and get one now, while there's only about four or five games worth playing and nobody's bothering to get it, as opposed to later, when there will be better games (Mario, Pokemon, Smash Bros.) and they'll be impossible to get.

Listen buddy maybe in your area they don't have any but Wii's are in higher demand than anything else right now so there crankin' out as many as they can before ps3 gets some good games.

you should diversify your portfolio with PS3's and XBox 360's. In those economically attempting circumstances it truly is not any longer smart to placed all of your chickens in a unmarried basket. <----dated an Economics substantial 12 years in the past so i'm noticeably certain that makes me an expert.

They don't have a problem producing them.

They DO have a marketing strategy that follows this line of reasoning: if something is in short supply, the price will stay up there.
