im in north carolina.moderate temps,no snow thus far.immense flocks of birds this year tho.are they dependant on my feeders?i'd like to taper off,but i dont want them to starve.im going thru a 5 pound bag of seed a day,there are so many birds.thats 3 to 5 dallars a day on birdseed.im in over my head,it wasnt as busy other years-how do i handle this?when is it safe to stop?i love them,but im running low on cash!help!

They won't starve!! You are probably not the only bird feeder in your area. They can always scrounge up something. We have about 2 feet of snow here and the temps are in the minuses now till April and I fill my feeders once a week.
Trust me they will be just fine. But have fun watching the different birds come to your feeder
You might also try buying birdseed in bulk. It is way cheaper too. I do.

They won't starve. Your food is just easy access so you are going to have them visiting you all the time. Think about it: if you could get a ton of food real quick (then spend the rest of the day sleeping) or have to spend the day searching for food (and then sleeping) what would you pick?
There are a ton of other food sources available- if there weren't there would be no birds.
If you are still worried, just slowly decrease the amount over a week or so. Cut down to 3 lbs, two days later down to 2 lbs, then down to whatever you want to put in.
