In the summer just play basketball with people that are better then you and you will also get better in basketball. But the best way to get better in your shot and layups is to go to basketball camps, they teach you alot of things but for you i would reccomend a Shooting/Guard camp because guards usually take most of the shots and drive inside to take layups and stuff. So go to a shooting camp and remember PRACTICE!!!! PRACTICE!!!! PRACTICE!!!!

As they have said, practice.
But more specifically, spend a lot of time practicing layup after layup after layup. Note exactly where to place the ball on the backboard and with what kind of force. Then practice jump shots/set shots from specific places on the floor. Again, practice going off the backboard and develop a solid, consistent stroke.
Then, after you have a decent mastery of the layups and the close jumpers, start working on the three ball and start playing in more games.

Layups.... jump off the opposite foot from your shooting hand, keep your eyes up on the backboard, specifically the UPPER [not lower] corner of the square on the board, make sure your hand placement on the ball allows you to send it straight.
Shooting in general.... shoot with a one-hand release, lift your elbow high and hold your follow through until the ball hits the basket.

Well obviously practice, but make sure your form is correct. Imagine your going for a lay-up, make sure your form is right. We are shooting on the right side, so our right hand is extended for the shot and our left hand is guarding the ball. Your right leg is extended and your left knee is bent to get more momentum. Aim for the the lower corner of the rectangle to secure a good angle. Put a forward rotation on the ball and aim for the corner. your shot will start to fall. Good Luck!

well dont listen to mind of cycle because he is a mind of idiots.
What you reallly do is work on your close shots and work on your form (how you shoot the ball). Then start shooting the close jumpers and then slowely get up to 3 pointers. You have to work on your far two's before you start shooting your three pointers. And you have to work on your close jumpers and layups before you start working on the far two's.

maybe your shooting form or layup form is no good, ask a coach or friends to correct you... then practice.

Keep practicing. There's no magical way to get better overnight, you just need to practice them.
