why is environmental science considered a science?

Why wouldn't it be. It involves chemistry, physics, biology, and math to understand how this very complex system we call our environment reacts to changes we cause as well as natural phenomena DUH

Because, like any other science, it is an attempt to explain environmental phenominon based of a system of observation, hypothesis formation, testing and forming a conclusion. There are many question out there about how the environment works and environmental science is the best way we have to answer those questions.
