I'm 4 months pregnant and having a girl. We have a few names narrowed down, but I want an outside opinion. I'm looking for something creative, spiritual, and nothing common (example: Anne, Heather, Tiffany, etc). What we have that we like is Freya for a first name, but would make a good middle name? Another first name we like is Dharma - what's a good middle name for Dharma? Let me know yer thoughts, please! First and middle names or just middle names with the first two suggestions.

I like uniqueness, character, something special that holds meaning to a name, her name. There's nothing special to Anne, Mary, or Grace. "Everyone" has that name. I want "Wow" not "Oh, just another 'classic' name..." And I keep getting Elizabeth, I like Elizabeth but not Liz, Lizzy, Besty, or Beth.
Thanks for yer suggustions, but I was Zow! not zip.

You probably wont' like my answer, because to me, the names you think of as "common" are names that I think of as "classic" and "timeless". :) Hence, I like them! Well, I don't like Tiffany, because I haven't known any nice folks with that name. But Anne is a beautiful, classy and classic name. So is Sarah/Sara. Heather is so-so; it still strikes me as a wanna-be trendy name. heh

Another name I love, which will NEVER go out of style, is Elizabeth. You can never go wrong naming your daughter Elizabeth, not only because it's a beautiful name on its own, but the girl can choose from a variety of nicknames, as she goes through the stages in which kids experiment with their names and identity. From Elizabeth comes Elly, Ellie, Liz, Liza, Eliza, Lizabeth, Beth, Betty and Betsy.

Please remember that just because YOU think it's cool and hip to give your daughter a very unusual first name, she might not feel that way herself. I know TOO many people (male and female) who never really liked the names their parents gave them, and 9 times out of 10, it was because the name was too unusual to pronounce and/or spell. I'm not trying to be mean -- I'm just telling it how it is. :) So, I hope at least you'll give your daughter a middle name that's "common" (a.k.a. "classic"), so she has something to fall back upon if she doesn't like the first name you've assigned her. Please at least consider this.

I agree with what shari516 stated.
If you want to go for something original, unique, yet pretty go for something like Jailyn Nichole. Not only is it a pretty name but has different ways of spelling.
I also like the name Falyn [pronounce as Fallon] I like the name Freya a lot actually, but not much Dharma.
Consider how cruel kids can be, and how your little girl will like her name.
Anyway,
If you're going to go with Freya, I suggest Freya Marie or Freya Elizabeth.
[You really can never go wrong with Elizabeth]
Best of Luck.

They did a test at the hospital when I was 6 months along...
They told me I was having a girl...We painted everything
pink and white...bought little dresses, and cute dollies.
My son's name is Wesley William.....After his Uncle and
after William Wallace..It's a Scottish thing.
Some times you just have to wait and see what the
personality of the child is like.

I like timeless names as well. Something that when you hear and see it you know how to say and spell it. Like Annie, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Grace. They are classic and timeless nobody is going to ask how do you spell any of those names.

Both names are ok, but I was going to suggest Patience, or Angelica, for first names, and Marie or Jessica for middle names.

Not meaning any offence, but ERSONALLY I don't really care for either name. But, everyone has different likes/dislikes. If you're wanting to stick with these names, what about "Rain" as a middle name for either?
