I asked a similar question yesterday, but now....I lost my mucus plug. My mother in law told me to go to the hospital now, but my mom told me to wait until i have steady contractions. I dont know what to do!

I am a labor and delivery nurse. Losing your mucus plug has nothing to do with being in labor. If you are not having regular contractions that hurt hard enough that you can't breath through them for at least an hour and a half-2 hours, then you should wait until you get that way before you go to the hospital. Otherwise you'll probably just be sent home and waste your insurance company, yours, or the taxpayers $$.

Your body is getting ready for labor. There is no need to rush to the hospital now, they will probably just send you home. I wouldn't go to the hospital until the contractions are 5-6 minutes apart (depending on how far from the hospital you live). You can be slightly dilated and lose your mucous plug and still not go into labor for days/weeks. Chances are it won't take that long, and you will be holding your baby before you know it. Good luck to you and your baby!

I think the people who say you need to deliver within 24 hours are a little confused. When your water breaks you need to deliver within 24 hours to avoid infection (not losing your mucous plug).

Sometimes losing your mucus plug means that you will go into labor soon. Other times it takes a while. Just wait until you have regular contractions or until your water breaks to go to the hospital. Sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear. Good luck to you.

losing your mucous plug is a sure sign that you are getting closer to the end or your pregnancy and that goes the same for being dialated a few cm and effaced, but it doesn't mean that you are in labor. it could be another two weeks before your baby is born. you really should wait to go to the hospital until your getting contractions steadily every 5 minutes lasting about a minute or when your water breaks. good luck to you and congrats!!

baby is coming soon, but listen to your mom and don't go to hospital until you have steady contractions; If you go now they will probably just send you home or keep you there forever until you have the baby which could be a week from now!

I had my baby a week after I was 2cm dilated and 2 days after i lost my mucus plug

dont go to the hospital yet..grandma (mil) sounds excited, which she should be.

It could still be a week or so. Your body is definately preparing. Just get lots of rest over the next few days nd make sure your bags are packed.

Wait until contractions are 5 mins apart to go the Hospital or when your water breaks.
Congrats and Good Luck

You are textbook beautifully getting close to labor :)

Wait until you're having contractions. Your labor is likely to be relatively short to normal because you're making so much progress in advance and that's awesome!

Wait until your contractions are about 10 minutes apart as long as you live within about 30 minutes of your delivering hospital. If you live further away, go when they're 15 minutes apart or you have four in any given hour.

Beautiful progress... I foresee a perfect delivery for you :)

Best to you!

GO TO THE HOSPITAL. NOW. My sister has had 9 kids. I've had 2. Labor can start very quickly since you are already dialated some. You don't want to run the risk of having
complications away from the hospital. My sister had some of her kids in less than an hour.

Im 3-4 dialated, 60% thinned and lost the plug yesterday

my doc said to wait until water breaks or contractions are 5-6 minutes apart.

I was in early labor when I lost my plug. The hospital sent me home when I went there after I lost my plug. 4 hours later I was back in the hospital and I had my baby 12 hours after losing my plug. Call the hospital and see what they want you to do. You don't want to get there and then they just send you home.

Congrats, sounds like you will have your baby soon! :)
