I think its a combination on not being able to use the internet very well combinded with a desire for hypochondria. I figure if your writing in a forum, you obviously are not that sick because if you were, you would be at a hospital right now. Plus there are nursing hotlines all over the place, including your doctor's office that could answer many of these and they are bounded by law and science and ethics to let you know whats up. I dont get it.

I think sometimes when an individual is worried about a health problem they like to talk to someone who has it, has been through it and maybe defeated it. Most probably have already been to their own doctor . It's just a nice way to share.

I think most people have a geuine concern, If it's too personal just say "I would raher not bore you with te details and change the subject. But if you'll try to understandt hat theydo care it might help you be more understanding.

i think that they just want other opinions and experiences to compare with their own..maybe they are looking for a little compassion..Lord knows we could all use a little understanding, TLC, hope etc....
