Hi, I recently found out I am pregnant, and I know the grandparents are going to love the news, but we want to tell them in a special way. My parent's and my husband's parents live far away from us, so it has to be by mailing them something or I don't even know. Does somebody have any cool ideas?

There's a surprisingly good book called "The Good Granny Guide"...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Good-Granny-Guide-Modern-Grandmother/dp/1904977081

Send a copy along the the grandmothers in question, with a due date scribbled in the front page and your best wishes, etc.

There're other books -- search for "grandparenting" on any large book site -- but I did like that one quite a bit.

If either you or your husband are artistic at all you could draw a stork on a postcard or piece of cardboard and make it like an invitation. On this invitation state something to the effect "Hi Papa and Nana, your presence is requested on such a date (expecting date) in order to watch the miracle of my birth." Also include a response card (mush like a wedding type of thing) that says whether they will be able to be present for the birth. My money goes to them calling you both with much excitement long before you receive their response in the mail. In addition I would not be surprised if both sets of grandparents didn't try and arrange some vacation time in order to celebrate the birth of their grandchild and to try and give you some help afterwards. Regardless if they can make it or not trust me when I say that this will be the happiest news that they could receive to bring in the new year. Congrats on your good news and hopefully you will find a cool idea of informing future grandparents of this great news.

Get a cute card at Hallmark. Something that says
Hi Grandma or Hi Grandpa or Happy Valentine's day
from your grandchild.
Mail them the card from the baby (with a copy of the pregnancy test results.)
Thats what I did with my husbands parents and mine. They live out of state, too.

Make your own webpage and send them the address. Add a special link that tells them only that they will be grandparents. Do this ASAP. And make sure the webpage looks well put together-add pics of you and your husband to make it seem welcoming for the soon-to-be-grandparents.

Ask your dr to do an ultrasound and send them the pictures or a copy of the pictures. Or you could send them a copy of the lab results showing that you have had a positive pregnancy result.

I used Fetalgreetings.com
You order actual cards from them and then mail them out via the postal service. They were featured on Oprah. We used them with my daughter and they were just wonderful! check out some of the things they say! They are actual cards from your unborn baby!

I got the greatest voice mails after people went to their mailboxes!!!

Lots of fun.
You do have to wait for them to get to you, but they ship fast and are worth the wait!

If you all have computers and webcams you can do it over the computer and be face to face!
Or how about sending them a fruit basket or flowers saying "We're Pregnant"
