Women control more. The tax laws make it easier for women to get breaks if they own a business. Also, even if men think they own things....they have to give the woman half!!

I think you will find with every statistic, that men not only make more money in the corporate world, but are also the prominent sex involved with all business transactions. So, definitely men control more. Now, I'm not condoning, nor agreeing otherwise to this; however, I am fully convinced that it is the reality in the US. I would say that the landscape and balance is changing as more women are reaching the executive levels of business, attending business schools, professional educations, etc. But ultimately, in this era, men dominate the ranks of controlling assets.

Fairly certain the answer is men. Women tend to work lower paying jobs for numerous reasons including career choice and systemic sexism. Working women average fewer hours a year. Fewer women choose to enter the work force.

These income factors will lead be to believe that women have less assets. Looked for the numbers for you, but weath stats aren't typically divided by stats. Also marriages with "joint accounts" make that type of measurement murky. Men will also put money in a womens (wife/children) name while maintaining control.
