Not necessarily in a romantic situation but it can be....
looking at someone close to you, someone who you drop all your walls with....and feeling time, distance & space dissolving.......& you don't where you end and the other person begins. Pure Oneness. It's surreal.

i see and totally agree with what you're saying, amp...but this experience isn't losing yourself and being dependent on someone...it's not negative....it's totally positive and it's definately not romantic. Strangely, this makes for more stronger individuality, not less.
Remix edition is right on---it can happen in nature.

Yes. A place where the ego dissolves and it is a pure experience of oneness, not just with that person, but everything.
I was at a seminar with my wife once and the seminar leader was demonstrating unconditional love with my wife and I was in tears and it wasn't even directed at me. Same sort of thing.

It would be necessary for both people to completely drop all their walls and purely love each other to have such an experience. One can have a similar experience more easily through nature because nature has no walls to drop.
Ah yes Sleepy, but the next question is "what are walls composed of".......ego judgments?

Felt something akin to that. Felt so close to someone that we were one. It wasn't healthy though. He was falling apart & taking me down with him. He was the only man that I ever saw cry. I felt his pain too. He was too sensitive for this world...
I felt something with someone else though, an eerie feeling. We looked into each other's eyes & we both felt it. It's like we weren't
looking at each other on the surface but seeing the souls behind our eyes. We were both a little freaked out at the time.
I always used to think it was romantic for two to become one. Now I realize that this is dependency rather than love. People use the expression "My better half" & romanticize about becoming one heart, one mind, one person. Yes two halves make a whole but for love to be strong & to last it takes two whole people, strong & independent people who choose to be together not as one, but as two. It's a more solid foundation to build a life that way. Never lose yourself to someone else...

well i felt like that a few times, but maybe it was cuz i was on drugs. i'm not tryin to sound like a smart-***, but i connected with people and everything was copacetic.
i remember one time, i was with this girl. we were just kickin it, doing this, smoking that, etc. etc. we could've been as open as we wanted to be. then we both decided non-verbally (and non-sexually) to go skinny-dippin, just cuz a pool was there. good times!
but great question, it's a beautiful feeling when you meet a soul-mate and words/anxieties cease to exist. you just understand each other completely.

Yes, in the past me and my best friend were like that to each other, but now things are different. Dooring the time we had it was great.

well, zen master propensities---very fortunate for you ;-) perhaps you might explore the practices that would facilitate that experience becoming a 24/7 way of being. why not explore esoteric/tantric buddhism, taoism, and vedic thought? ;-)
