I've been here for 4 years. What seems to be typical is this...
January - cold (low 40's on average), cloudy, drizzly, with at least one snow day
February - cold (40's), cloudy, drizzly, with a week of sunshine to get us through until Spring.
March - not as cold (50's), cloudy/partly-cloudy, less drizzly, nice days increasing as the month goes on
April - Spring has sprung, partly cloudy, temps in the upper 50's, mostly nice days with occasional rainy days. Much like Spring anywhere else.
May - Same as April, but warmer (60's). Clouds and rainy days are much fewer and farther between.
June - 70's, sunny or partly sunny most of the time. Lots of daylight. Sunset isn't usually until almost 10pm.
July - Temps are usually in the mid-70's, but you'll have a few days here and there of miserable hot weather. Sunny and bright, little or no rain.
August - Much like July.
September - Beginning of September is beautiful, 70's, sunny, more like June was. End of September, temperatures drop, clouds roll in a few more days, and it might even drizzle for the first time in 2 months.
October - Starts to get chillier (50's-60's), clouds increase as the month goes on, and by the time Halloween rolls around, it's drizzling again.
November - Drizzly, cloudy, colder (50's)
December - Drizzly, cloudy, cold (40's)
This pretty much sums it up, although we've been having some really terrible weather this year. Snow in November, wind storms in December, and now ice & snow again.
Alot of the weather issues here are a matter of perspective. I came from Michigan, where it's extremely cold in the winter and hot & muggy in the summer. I much prefer Seattle weather any month of the year. However, my sister recently moved here from sunny California and hates the weather. It's too cold and cloudy for her liking...
Hope that helps!

I've lived in Tacoma (about an hour south of Seattle) for 21 years and I love the weather. My husband actually moved out here just because of the weather.
We joke that our rainy season is from September 1 to August 31. But, really, it's not so bad. We only get an average of 33 inches of rain a year (Florida gets more). The problem is that it can be cloudy a lot.
So, a lot of it depends on where you're moving from and how much sun you're used to. I moved here from Denver, where they get an average of 300 days of sun every year. So, the clouds were a little hard to take at first, but the green landscape was worth it.
The best part about the weather here is that it's not very extreme. It usually only gets into the 70s in the summer and the 40s in the winter.

I live in Seattle and this year has been really wacky. Typically it's rainy Nov - June. In July it starts warming up and Aug - Oct is beautiful. It's worth the rain because that's what makes it so green here. We have mountains for skiing and hiking within an hours drive. There are lakes everywhere and the ocean is a short drive away. You can go to Canada in 3 hours and the San Juans are amazing. Yes it rains, but it's a fantastic city to live in.

The weather is not for everyone. I grew up there and I had to get out! It rains ALOT and when it's not raining it's usually cloudy and dark. People say the weather is mild but I think it's pretty chilly. It's bone chilling cold because of the humidity, even if it rarely snows. But it is a beautiful area, with rain forests on the Peninsula and mountains. However, watch out for mold and mildew. It's a wet place, no doubt. And I agree with the person who mentioned SAD. I think a lot of people in Seattle are walking around depressed due to lack of sunlight.

I don't live there, but I live in the Greater Vancouver area in Canada and we pretty much have the same kind of weather that they have.
Most of the time it's wet. September to April is wet and cloudy. May to August is usually sunny.
If you don't like rain though, best not to move there. But it is a great city (I visit there A LOT). Traffic sucks though, kinda like the traffic where I'm from.

9 months of misserable rain you are going to have in the pacific northwest I grew up there in the northwest. As I always tell people why do you think starbucks started up in Seattle because you need that hot esspresso with all the cold dreary rain their, and expect to suffer from S.A.D wich is seasonal affective dissorder or if you say I am suffering from sad everyone in the northwest knows what sad is.

summers have been generally really beautiful with blue skies and moderate temperatures-but lots of clouds/rain in the winter--in addition, this year we have had unseasonable cold and windy weather with more ice and snow than usual
