I got a new printer a HP deskjet 5740. It works on my other computers but when i plug it into this computer the computer freezes and makes a beeeeeep sound. Whats wrong with it? Please help!

this usually occurs when your computer cannot support the hardware or software of the device. Your driver may also need updated. That happened with my CD drive once. Whenever I would try to use the CD drive, my computer would freeze up.

is it a USB printer ? if so, are there too many USB devices connected to this PC? try unplugging some USB devices then plug in your printer, and check what happens.
