I am 34 weeks pregnant and have been having contractions and cramping regularly for days. I talked to my doctor and she did a fetel fibronectin test to find out if there is a possibility of early labor but the results won't be in until monday afternoon. I am drinking a gallon of water a day and I have cut out caffeine and I am still having contractions. Also this morning I got diahrea (I know it's gross) and I've heard that some women get this right before labor and I was wondering if this happened to you and if it did how close was it to your labor?

This is my third pregnancy and I have never felt this much pain with contractions unless I was in labor. But everything about this pregnancy has been different from the other two. Also my son was only three months old when I got pregnant this time.

As long as there are no cervical changes and the contractions are not increasing in pain level or frequency, you'll have about a week. I don't recall having to wait that long for the fetal fibronectin results with my last two children. I hate that you are. Try to rest as much as possible. Stay off your feet and stay on your left side as much as possible. Do not walk any more than you need to and stay hydrated. If you haven't been put on tributanol or magnesium, you're probably ok. Call Monday and ask your doctor for the steriod shot to boost lung development. It won't hurt anything and should you go early, there is a good chance it will help. I had it with my last 2 and they didn't require O2 or ventilators at birth. At 34 weeks, your baby should be just fine :-)

I had two babies but I don't think I had diahrea before labor. I think it's probably you eat something that caused the diahrea. Just watch for the contractions. I guess this is your first baby, so you're entitled to be nervous and alert all the time and constantly calling the doctor. Before I had my first baby, I would have contractions constantly all night and I couldn't sleep. I went to see my doctor and she told me that it could be a day or two before my baby popped out. I actually went into the hospital earlier than I was supposed to and eventually she had to do an injection. The second time, it felt totally different. I knew he's coming because it felt like something's rushing out of your body and you tried to hold it but you can't. I would say that's the sign when you have constant contractions and you know something's coming out of you, and you should definitely get into your car and head to the hospital. By the way, my water didn't break in both situations. I don't know whether it's considered normal or not (everyone's different), but keep in mind that even if your water doesn't break, your baby could be coming out of your body any time so get yourself into hospital ASAP. Good luck and have fun! Everything's well worth it after you get to hold your baby!!!

Yea kinda a subject most dont wanna talk about but yes thats common before delievery. With me it was days before like I had some stomache flu. (I had a 35 weeker) If things dont feel right take an er trip seriously. You know your body better then anyone. Because if labor isnt far off steriod shots would really help the baby get a better start. Don't mean to scare you but if it worries you at least if its nothing you will have that peace of mind because you got checked out.

I did a little, but you kind of want that - I wanted my body to be empty of wastes so I didn't crap on the table.
