Why won't my computer detect any mobile devices when they are connected by a USB cable?

Question

I have the software installed for a Nokia 6680, a motorola CRZR and a Navman Satallite navigation system. When I connect any one of them to the computer the software says that there is no device connected. I have 4 usb ports on my computer 2 of which are used by the modem and keyboard and they work fine. When I connect my mobile devices to these USB ports they don't work.
The computer makes a sound indicating that it's detected the device but the devices software says there's no devices connected. I've already tried re-installing the software loads of times. I really need help on this issue. I've tried everything to try and get it to work.

i get this problem before and my nokia 6630 didn't work on PC with a program like yours.
so for 6630,6680 they r called smart phones and they cant be detected by any software.
ur USB ports r working don't worry,only install the nokia PC suite on Ur PC(if u have the mobile CD,or u may download it from nokia website if this is available or get the CD from any friend it works with all nokia mobiles) and the nokia 6680 will work with it.
also u have to search for each mobile official CD to make it work on PC.

You need to find the installation wizard, your cpu isn't finding the ports to open them. Another way would be to go through the Control Panel . There's also a device manager to be opened up. After Control Panel, click Printers and other hardware, then on the next page, top left is Add Hardware(wizard).
