When I play a DVD on my (new) computer of Dell (Inspiron 640m) the DVD keeps getting stuck; well actually only my sound keeps getting stuck so it sounds l-i-i-k-e th-h-i-i-s-s-s. Does anybody know what the problem may be and how to solve it?

Is the DVD scratched or dusty...give it a clean

Give the lens of the DVD a wipe with a bit of water

Is the DVD a copy, it might be a cheap DVD thats been used (the dye used) use Verbatim (Azo layer)

Try installing a different DVD playing Software on your Notebook

Hope that helps

it sounds like your video card is not big enough to handle dvd check what size card you are running if it is less than 125 meg then it is not big enough to run dvds you will have to get a bigger video card.
I run a 256 meg card in my system ok.
