Absolutely. Professionals who have experience using tools is way more valuable than the tools themselves. I'm a recording musician with my own Digital Performer home studio, but I'm also good friends with several recording engineers, including a guy who was the head engineer at a major label for over 10 years.
Knowing how to put together a project, what sounds good and how to get it, the differences between tracking and mixing, how to produce, what goes into mastering, all of these things require years of experience to master. Not to mention more specific technical details like how to best use compression, all those plug ins that come with DAW software nowadays, etc.
My experience with pros in a studio is that they are able to keep the long view - that all the tools are simply a means to an end - making good music - rather than an end in themselves.
Best analogy I can use, as a keyboard player - owning a Steinway doesn't make one a pianist...and it certainly doesn't make one an true artist. Know what I mean?
Best to you.

The sound quality would be noticeably better in an actual studio...They use sound proof rooms when recording...

The sound equipment is probably better which will give you better sound. They will be better able to control and make necessary adjustments.
