When I start moving again it heats up again and then it'll get cold when I stop at another light. What could the problem be?

It sounds to me like you are low on antifreeze. You must have a leak somewhere. And also thermostats can do this also. I used to have a 77 Buick that did that all the time, and it was always the thermostat on it. Did exactly what you say. Heat moving, cold air not moving. First off, check your antifreeze level. Find the leak, get it fixed. Have the thermostat changed to be safe. Hopefully you have someone to do it for you (unless you can do it yourself.) But thermostats can be tough to change, sometimes. Hope this helps you.

Could be a restriction in the system witch slows or stops the hot water from flowing through the heater coil at idle but when you speed up the water pressure increases due to increased pump speed allowing the fluid to go through the the heater coil again. Try flushing the system and replacing with fresh anti-freeze an water 50/50 mix.

Poor coolant flow is the reason indeed...if coolant is full and belts are in good condition and tight, you may have a water pump that is worn internally. With the engine cold, try starting it and pulling a hose off the heater core..if no coolant pumps out replace the water pump.

sounds like the vehicle is low on coolant.have the engine bone cold, remove the radiator cap and add a fifty fifty mix of coolant and water.with a trained eye it needs to be inspected for leaks.keep an eye on the temp gauge or light, shut off immediatly if in the red or light comes on,and have repaired.i would have a trusted shop look it over for leaks any how.

Check for vacuum leaks. the heater cintrol vavle is probably vacuum operated. Low rpms mean low vacuum but should be enough to pull diaphram unless you have a leak.

Check your coolant level, check your belts for slipping. It is poor coolant flow, requiring higher rpms for coolant to reach your heater core.

The water in your radiator is to low for the water to circulate when sitting still. Or your water pump is shot. But I would say its the first one. Easiest to check

your vacuum tank or hoses that control the a/c and heating system is leaking. OR the electric waterpump is not working
