In 1869 a Russian chemist named Dmitri Mendeleev made the first Periodic Table but he arranged element by atomic mass. It worked well to arange and predict properties of element and even was used to predict elements before they were discovered. In 1911 An English chemist named Henry Moseley found is was better to arrange the elements by atomic number and created the modern Periodic Table. There were only a few differences in the new table for the known elements of the time.

A russian scientist named Dimitry Mendeleev put the Periodic Table together in 1871. Although he hadn't discovered all the elements he knew by the masses of the elements he did know that lots where yet to be found and left space for future scienists to put them where they belong. (Funny to see this question...my daughter just learned this in her K-12 3rd grade science lessons)
